The Creation of RASCBall

RASCBall was born in the Summer of 2001 when original members and long time hockey enthusiasts Mike Crosky, along with Matt & Rich Gubsch were playing a game of street hockey, using a tennis ball in place of a puck. As the summer heat grew, the hockey sticks were dropped and the three began throwing the ball to one another and at the goal. Incorporating a netminder into the mix, the guys then began to add some structured rules and playing techniques. Realizing that the then unnamed sport would most likely catch the interests of others, Mike, Matt and Rich decided to spread the word to friends and classmates. After introducing the newly created sport to others brought on a small contingency of athletes together for an inventive, up tempo competition. As stated previously, in the early days of RASCBall a tennis ball was used for play. With a gathering of 5-9 players per contest, RASCBall was played at Westgate Park on the west side of Columbus, on a small outdoor concrete court. The court was approximately half the size of the floor in which RASCBall is played on today. The sport itself, you could say just happened on accident.....
