The Basics of Offense

RASCBall is a 6 on 6 competition played between two opposing teams, with 5 Floor Players and 1 Netminder per side. The official ball during play is size 1 regulation soccer ball. Athletes run the length of the court to advance play. Attempts to score goals are setup by various ball movements and blocking techniques. The range of offensive maneuverability is unlimited. Dribbling is allowed, but not mandatory, the number of passes are unlimited and player to player (basketball like) picks are allowed. Though kicking is not allowed in loose ball situations or as a pass to a teammate, it is permitted if attempted as a shot on goal.

Goals are scored via shots: thorwn, dunked, kicked, and headed in increments of:

  • 1- Goals scored via: Throw, Wrap Around
  • 2- Goals scored via: Dunk, Boot, Bonus Goal
  • 4- Goals scored via: Header, Bonus Boot

A goal scored via a throw is called a “1-Pointer.” A "Boot" is a shot on goal from a kick. A soccer style header is permitted as a shot as well, worth 4 points. Approximately 45 feet from goal is the “Bonus Line” and any shot scored from the designated line is worth double the points. For instances a shot scored from the result of a throw is now worth 2 points and is called a “Bonus Goal“. If a Boot goal is scored from behind the bonus line, it is worth 4 points and is known as a "Bonus Boot."

The Basics of Defense

Defense consists of modified basketball rules with physical contact being allowed as long as it pertains to the flow of play. Think of a good hard fought street basketball game in regards to the standard physical play. Tripping, tackling, elbowing and excessive holding is NOT allowed, though hand checking and body checking (think hockey or lacrosse) are permitted. No hitting of a player in the back is allowed, checks are only allowed via the side and front of an athletes body.

Each team has a Netminder, able to use any and all parts of his body to deny an opposing teams shot on goal. A crease surrounds the area of the goal, in which players from both teams are allowed to roam free during play.
